Coffee Stuff

Laura, you remember that cold coffee drink that you made...sometime. I honestly don't remember when you made it. Christmas? Anyway, Andrew wants me to have the recipe for it. So, please ante up.

Jamey's Heartburn Cure

I can't take credit for discovering this for myself, but I will vouch for the fact that it works! I started getting heartburn a few weeks ago, which is something that I've never experienced before in my life, but have recently found it to be unpleasant!

Warm milk mixed with honey. It's not the best tasting concoction out there, at least coming from someone who doesn't like milk, but it doesn't taste bad. It's a little strange, kind of like drinking oatmeal minus the oats. But it's totally worth it because it works. I've been imbibing (is that word specifically related to alcohol?) every night before bed and it gets rid of my heartburn and even when I wake up during the night it's still gone.

I'm not sure how many of our loyal recipe reading followers suffer from heartburn, but there you have it...

Orange Julius

Do you guys remember Mom making these for us when we were younger? Well, maybe it's scandalous, but I've made an adult version. :O Just add vodka. :) Mmm, it was so good. The taste will cover up the vodka almost completely so be careful how much you use!

Russian Tea

2 cups Tang
1 cup instant tea
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 - 1/2 t cloves
1 t dried lemon peel (I never have this, but it sound like a lovely thing to add.)
sprinkle of nutmeg

Mix all ingredients together in some sort of container with a lid...Christmasy tin, mason jar, etc..

1 - 1 1/2 t per cup (I actually prefer closer to a tablespoon in a mug...maybe because my mugs hold more than 8oz water? I don't know. I suppose it's a matter of taste.)

Sweeten with sugar, Splenda, honey, etc...by the cup.

Note: My current "batch" was made with diet instant tea, so it's technically pre-sweetened, and I don't usually feel the need to add sugar or another sweetener. Again, all a matter of taste.

Enjoy! I seriously can't believe I am the only one who associates this recipe with mom and my childhood and who has the recipe. You guys make your yeast rolls from scratch...I'll make the Russian Tea. HA HA HA! :)
