 The Job Fair Minimize

I went to a job fair today.  Has anyone else ever been to a job fair?  Do you know what I went through before I went there?  I had to rewrite my resume to make it generic then had to send Matt to Kinko's to print it because our hand-me-down printer finally died this summer and we have had no money to replace it.  Well, Kinko's has that new Windows bull shit and it took poor Matt almost 20 minutes to change the resume back to the way it is supposed to look because going from the Windows program we have to the new one screwed up the font and all the spacing.  Then Matt had to pay for the 20 minutes on their computer and then had to pay $1 a sheet for my resume.  It was ridiculous.  While he did that I was getting all dressed up in my "Interview Outfit" so I looked professional but not in my suit so I didn't look  too stuffy.  I did my hair (which is at a very difficult and unruly stage right now).  I did my makeup (I normally at least curl my eyelashes before I go to work but I did amazing yet tasteful makeup to make a good impression today).  Then I double check the times on the job fair.  Did it end at 4:00 like I thought?  NO.  It ended at 3:00 and seeing as it was 2:15 when I checked I flipped out.  I begged Matt to hurry up then begged him to drive me to the CSU campus and sit and wait for me so I wouldn't have to park off campus (no parking sticker) and walk forever and ever because I was only going to have 30 minutes to win them all over and beg them to hire me.

It was a joke.  It was disgusting.  It was insulting.  It was not a job fair.  It was a "join the military or come to this school or another school and get another degree" fair.  I was completely overdressed and old.  All the little size 2 coeds were in there in their tiny tush revealing shorts and curve clinging tshirts.  I was totally embarassed.  I was crushed.  I was supposed to find a JOB here.  This was supposed to be the answer to my problem of finding a job in my major.  I've been waiting for over a month for this job fair.  I spent 8 minutes walking up and down the aisles of displays.  Nothing pertained to me.  No one talked to me.  The one stall that had something remotely interesting for me had people stationed there that said, "The economy is really bad right now.  We're only looking for volunteers."  Well, I had no idea.  How silly of me.  My husband has been out of work since JANUARY.  I can't find a job in my MAJOR.  I work PART TIME as a SECRETARY.  But I didn't know the economy was bad.  I'm so glad I had you genuises to tell me the economy was bad!!!!!!!!!  What are you looking for volunteers for?  Are you looking for them to open a can of "Whoop Ass" on your stall because in that case I'd be more than happy to give you some of my time.
