I'm "watching" the space shuttle launch. Actually, I'm loading pictures onto my facebook page and catching up on the family website and only listening to the launch. One of the astronauts is giving us a play by play. She has an annoying, plastic, flight attendant voice. I immediately don't like her. My ear registers Astronaut Barbie saying, "We've lost power to one engine. All power to the remaining 3 engines. We're safe to continue." The launch has my full attention. Astronaut Barbie repeats the transmission without a quaver to her voice. Now I hate her. She lost power to an engine for crying out loud! I'm mad and sort of hope I get to hear her say she lost power to another engine just to see if the facade will crack. No such luck.
I tune out again while trying to remember the dates some of these pictures w ...

I'm going to share an excrutiatingly detailed account of my day from the moment I woke up until bedtime. You'll be privvy to everything, you lucky dog. No, not really, don't worry. I don't generally make people suffer agony like that for no reason. My days are pretty boring so I'll just hit the highlights. (Oh, and the times that you see on the lefthand side of the events are fictitious. I mean, they're based in reality, but I didn't actually write down the minute that stuff was happening. I'm just guessing. Blogging is an art.)
5:56 Benjamin wakes up fussing for the third time since 11:00 when I went to bed. I roll over and pull the pillow over my head.
5:58 Andrew appears in the doorway holding Ben and translating his babbles. "Where's mom? Can we find her? Mooooom, I need some breakfast. Mom, are you under that pillow?" I poke my head out, Ben smiles and divebombs my boobs. Andrew leaves to keep getting ready for work.

I hate stress. It is ruining my skin. This is just a repeat of the post I put up on the announcement page the other day but I'm writing it again because this seems the more appropriate place to put it. So, again. My skin. Yeah, not great skin to begin with...a few fine lines beginning to appear, large pores that have always been there, a little interesting redness over my cheek bones which might look like blush if they weren't so uneven and in the almost-right spot, and lets not even begin about the oil slick that is my face. Okay, fine. So, I use pore perfector and astringent and a great night cream for the "fine lines", a good but inexpensive mouisturizer for the redness but holy cow! Where did the acne come from? Good night, its awful! STRESS from SCHOOL. Just one more reason to be done with school. I feel like I'm in Jr High. And let me just say that ...

On the way home from Diane's today, Logan said, "Momma! We had heart-shaped cookies with frosting on them at lunch today and they made me think of you because I love you so much!!!"
Ahhh, my heart just melted. And to think that someday he's going to turn those charms on another woman...

My ample heart starts the race.
Quickening beats the steady pace.
Bursting forth without a sound
Ignoring wounds I have found
Spilling into my veins it runs
Finds me out and than it shuns
Coyly playing passionate mimesis
Through my body and all its pieces
Into my mouth where I scream
Clenched jaw shaking save a dream
Into my eyes where I cry
Narrow tears falling by and by
Into my lips where they quiver
Tongue cut sharply to a sliver
Into my lungs where they contract
Years of life lost to a fact
Into my lungs were color does drain
White and listless to complain
Into my head where I see
Boiling contagious unconsciously
Into my organs where it pours
Vile abundance from its stores
Out like a sieve ...

In Defense of Baby Einstein |

I'm sure that every has heard about the study that came out saying that Baby Einstein will not actually make an Einstein out of your child and in fact, isn't as good for your kids as talking to them. (Gasp of surprise)
What I don't understand is why people are surprised by this. Of course it's more beneficial to your child to play with them for twenty two minutes instead of letting them watch a DVD. It's also better if they eat plain oatmeal (hold the brown sugar) instead of Lucky Charms for breakfast. It would be better for me if I'd get up off my duff and exercise instead of typing this blog, but here I am.
In my opinion, what the study failed to take into account is that when most parents put in a DVD for their kids they do it because for the next little while they will be unavailable to play with said child. I bet that Baby Einstein is more beneficial for a kid then being stuck in a playpen to cry for the same amount of time, or drinking Bleach because mom ...

This is the final product of an assigment in advanced composition. The idea was to write about identity and your own personal identity and how it was in the past compared to how it is now, blah, blah blah. Considering Jamey and Laura you both are "mentioned" in the paper I thought you would all like to read it. Sorry Bonnie I didn't "mention" you but you live at home and see me all the time...let them have something, lol. Anyway I knew you would all appreciate this since you all tell me the same things about my girlfriends and my appearance. Enjoy.

This year will be Ben's first Halloween...at least as an active participant. Last year I had my stomach painted as a Jack-O-Lantern. Funny how last year I displayed, maybe even flaunted my stomach...huge stomach, and yet this year with a much smaller stomach you couldn't pay me (well, it would have to be a substantial amount) to hand out candy with my stomach hanging out... Anyway, that's neither here nor there.
Back to Ben's first Halloween. He obviously needs a costume. While he'll still be too little to walk around and collect candy we're going to be handing out candy again this year and little kids in costumes are just too cute to pass up. So now all Andrew and I have to do is pick a costume for him. Easy?
Here's a quick comparison of Andrew and my preferences for various things...
Music? Andrew likes jazz and blues. I like country or Christian rock.
Take out food? Andrew likes Chinese. I like piz ...
